JT- You have to remember how much of the "guts" of technology comes from Taiwan. If those plants go down for any length of time, you can kiss any technology rally goodbye for a very long time. With profits evaporating for that industry due to delays for components, we would se an honest to god crash. With justification IMHO.

If the US defends Taiwan against China, you will see a market crash the likes of which will dwarf 1929 IMO regardless of where people are trying to put their money. If the US doesn't defend Taiwan against a Chinese attack, we will still crash as the US would be viewed as weak. Gold and Swiss Francs would be a safer haven. It would take years for the tech stocks to recover. The earthquake in Taiwan spooked the market bigtime. Missiles launching and taking out infrastructure in Taiwan - I don't even want to think about it.
