We used to have our Winter carnivals on the lake. The first airplane ride I ever took was from a runway on the lake at a Winter carnival in Port Henry, NY ( quaint little town ).

Lots of ice fishing occurs on Lake Champlain in small shanties that have little stoves inside them for keeping warm. Every year some one always "goes down with the shanty". The lake is treacherous and full of surprises. In the winter you have the ice to contend with and in the summer you have some fast moving T-storms that can cause havoc to boaters.

Those small towns up there are in a time warp......they haven't changed in 40 years!
