NEW NASDAQ TRADING SYMBOL: ADSX

CHANGES WILL BE EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 1999

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, June 22, 1999 – Applied Cellular Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:ACTC) today announced that as of July 1, 1999 its new corporate name will be Applied Digital Solutions and its new NASDAQ stock trading symbol will be ADSX. The corporate name change was approved by the Company's stockholders at its June 5 Annual Meeting.

Applied Cellular's Chairman and CEO, Richard J. Sullivan, stated, "Applied Digital Solutions is a more appropriate name for our company as it is indicative of our expanding role in the communications industry.
