This Intel process has the highest on current for a given off current of any process (including IBM) published to date. If Intel (even with an older design) stays competitive with AMD on a MHz basis, it will largely be on the basis of this process. I can assure you that this process has indeed
caused quite a stir with "experts" in this field (and I don't mean me)_ What's most surprising to me is that it is in production NOW. I doubt if any of the other advanced stuff shown at IEDM is anywhere near manufacturing. Regarding the 800MHz shipping, my guess is that is without regard to guard band. Nearly all 733MHz parts would be over 800MHz including the guard band.
