This story has been the basis of a news story on every Denver station all weekend, but the spin on the local scene was we might expect terrorist actions here inside the US also.: US warns of Millennium terror attacks By Mary Dejevsky in Washington 13 December 1999 The US government says it has "credible information" that millennial celebrations round the world could be targets of terrorist attacks, and is telling all Americans to take precautions. The warning, issued by the US State Department as a "global travel advisory" notice, said attacks "could be planned for locations... where large gatherings and celebrations will be taking place". The notice said that those "travelling or living abroad" should be especially vigilant, as intelligence indicated that the planned attacks were "specifically targeting American citizens".
