I agree with you, especially after Seagate acquired XIOtech last weekend. They have the SOA drives, software, and now a storage server that can build a preliminary SAN without a switch. As you pointed out they also probably have good familiarity with the SAN software companies due to their equity position. I don't know what their sales network is like - but IMO they could easily become an end to end SAN company as a way to sell their disk drives.
