CEO's comment: Open structure model of OMKT software, may outlive the competition (BVSN).
This may be the case, although it may take time. In the long run, open models seem to do better. Ram

FF,

I will have to shoot over there and check out that panel discussion.

There is a front page article in the NY Times today discussing patents on internet-related technnology.

our very own Mr. Eichhorn is quoted

"Its a a land grab out there" says the CEO of OMKT, an Internet software company that holds patents on several key building blocks of online stores.

"Its not a surprise that these patents are being issued now. Its a wide open field and a lot of smart people have been looking to get patents as a strategic weapon or a strategic revenue opportunity."

later a quote from Kevin G. Rivette, chairman of Aurigin Systems, an intellectual property management firm:

"We will see some Internet companies become industry giants because they can exclude others from doing what they do, just as Xerox did."

Yeah, I have heard that Xerox was a hot stock at one time. LOL.

PaineWebber Rockets Open Market Target To $80 From $35 (OMKT)

(NewsTraders.com)-- Open Market Inc. (OMKT) had its price target rocketed to $80 from $35 this afternoon
by PaineWebber Inc. analyst James Preissler, who reiterated a "buy" rating on the stock.

Open Market held an analyst day Tuesday, which left Preissler with more confidence in the company's
visibility and opportunity in 2000.

"We believe OMKT's combined product suite strategy and open, scalable architecture is the outsourced
packaged product clients are looking for to power their Web sites," Preissler said in a research note.

Furthermore, the analyst said Open Market is seeing a "robust business environment" with an increased
backlog, and anecdotal information from clients and system integrators appear to forecast a strong first half
of 2000.

Shares of the Burlington, Mass.-based Internet software company recently changed hands higher by $0.97
at $47.44.
