If Intel spun it out as an IPO, it might trade at $320/share the first day - provided they have significant losses !

Pandesic Becomes World's Largest E-Commerce Application Service Provider-
Announces 100th E-Business with The Children's Place site

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1999--Pandesic LLC, the Internet company from Intel and SAP, today announced its 100th live e-business, childrensplace.com, making Pandesic the largest e-commerce application service provider.

Pandesic powers nearly three times as many sites as its nearest ASP competitor.

Pandesic's end-to-end, outsourced e-commerce solution drives leading e-commerce sites including ARTISTdirect, DVD EXPRESS, eHobbies and now The Children's Place. Its nearest competitor is responsible for 30 e-businesses.

''With 100 e-businesses, Pandesic is among the largest e-commerce service providers, with the experience to host the most complex e-business sites,'' said Tod Nielsen, vice president of Microsoft Corp. ''Pandesic's solution optimizes Microsoft architecture to deploy cutting edge e-commerce solutions for e-businesses.''

''Online retailers are shifting to application service providers to ensure successful e-businesses,'' said Ed Felton, vice president of engineering and operations for Pandesic. ''We are the acknowledged leader in e-commerce ASPs because we enable our e-businesses to keep their promises to customers.''

It was customer service requirements that drove The Children's Place, a children's retailer for ready-to-wear clothing and accessories, to choose Pandesic to power its childrensplace.com, launched in November. With more than 290 successful brick-and-mortar stores, The Children's Place wanted to translate that success online.

''Customer service is the utmost priority for us,'' said Debra Brummer, director of e-commerce for childrensplace.com. ''We wanted to create a seamless environment between the offline and the online stores. Pandesic has been our general contractor in building an e-business.''

Average sales transaction totals from childrensplace.com have been higher than average transaction totals from the brick-and-mortar stores, and the number of online sales have exceeded childrensplace.com projections. ''We're looking to grow with Pandesic and become one of the chief players in the Internet e-commerce space,'' Brummer said.

Each Pandesic e-business enjoys a fully optimized e-commerce solution that incorporates hardware, software, management, support, hosting and key partnerships. The Pandesic E-business Solution enables access to real-time inventory availability, a variety of payment options, real-time shipping status, access to order history and other mission critical aspects that contribute to the certainty and reliability of online shopping.

''The Pandesic solution has helped DVD EXPRESS scale for the holiday rush which has seen the simultaneous boom for online shopping and for DVD players, one of this year's hottest gifts,'' said Mike Dubelko, CEO and founder of DVD. ''DVD EXPRESS is fulfilling hundreds of thousands of orders between Thanksgiving and New Year's, letting customers know when they visit the site exactly what's in stock and shipping items the same day with ease, thanks to Pandesic.''

Previous to the holiday season, Pandesic powered DVD EXPRESS through shopping peaks that included this summer's ''Titanic boom'' a pre-order spree that prompted a single-day fulfillment of 30,000 orders. Later, the Pandesic solution and DVD EXPRESS beat their own pre-order record by fulfilling 40,000 orders for ''Matrix'' on the movie's September release date.

''The Pandesic solution is capable of handling our biggest shopping days and product demand,'' Dubelko said. ''With order fulfillment assured, we can concentrate on running our business and selling our products.''

Molecular Simulations Inc. Working with Intel on Chemical R&D Software For Intel's IA-64 Architecture

SAN DIEGO and CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Molecular Simulations Inc. (MSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmacopeia, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCOP - news), today announced plans to work with Intel in developing molecular simulation software for Intel's IA-64 architecture. MSI's industry- leading tools include the DMol3 and CASTEP quantum mechanics codes for accurately predicting the structure and properties of materials.

The latest versions of these software products are being released at this week's annual meeting of MSI's Catalysis & Sorption Consortium -- a group of over thirty commercial and academic research organizations. At the meeting, MSI and Intel are introducing plans to service R&D in the chemicals industry by making MSI software available on Itanium®, Intel's first microprocessor based on IA-64 architecture.

MSI's products are being designed for multi-CPU Itanium based workstations and servers running Microsoft's 64-bit Windows NT operating system. The unique scientific capabilities of MSI codes will be combined with the leap forward in price/performance offered by 64-bit Itanium systems and the accessibility of a platform supported by all leading hardware vendors. MSI will work with Intel to ensure that its simulation products are available coincident with shipments of Itanium processor-based systems.

''MSI's work in this area represents an excellent example of using innovative technology in the field of computational chemistry,'' comments Mr. Anand Chandrasekher, GM of the Workstation Products Group at Intel. ''This collaboration helps us to ensure that researchers in the chemicals industry will be able to apply the power of the IA-64 architecture to practical R&D problems from the day that the Itanium® processor is released.''

''MSI continues to push the boundaries in applying simulation to design chemical products and processes,'' says Dr. Michael R. Stapleton, General Manager of Materials Science at MSI. ''The future addition of IA-64 DMol3 and CASTEP to our product line should provide unprecedented power and scalability to our customers. This development is consistent with our strategy of integrating our tools with industry standard software and hardware architectures.''

Molecular Simulations Inc. (MSI) is a leading provider of simulation and informatics software for design and optimisation of materials and chemical systems. MSI software helps the world's foremost industrial research teams to solve commercially significant problems and accelerate product discovery and development. MSI is a subsidiary of Pharmacopeia, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCOP - news).
