I grew up in Orange, CT. As my father was a doctor at Yale, I made frequent trips into New Haven to go to his lab, the Yale Co-Op, Yankee Doodle Hamburgers, etc. At that time, late 60s to mid 70s, New Haven was more than just Yale. Downtown had a nice mall anchored by a Macy*s and a Malleys, two large and very popular department stores. My mother's parents had been lifelong New Haven residents, both going back pre 1910. I lived in New Haven in the 80s. So when I tell you New Haven has become a disgusting, crime-ridden hole in the ground it is not without a terrible sense of sadness. What do you think might happen to Yale's reputation if its students suddenly started getting randomly murdered by "townies"? Who in their right mind would send their son or daughter into a combat zone? You can imagine the fear that pervaded the Yale community. So, to answer your question... isn't it obvious now who benefits from the neat and tidy theory that a Yale professor killed a student? Isn't it obvious why the police sacrificed Jim to the media immediately . I mean, jeez, if there were any forensics they would have probably just arrived at the lab. They surmised he had a secret relationship with his student before they had questioned a single student to learn otherwise! The next question is why Yale appeared not to stick by Jim. Well, two weeks prior to the murder, another Yale professor got nailed by the feds for child pornography:Former Saybrook Master Antonio Lasaga surrendered himself at 4 p.m. yesterday to U.S. Marshals in Bridgeport, Conn. after being charged with violation of federal child pornography statutes, the Marshal's Office and the U.S. Attorney's Office said. yaledailynews.com Do you think Yale students found out about the FBI investigation through Yale? No! They heard via dining hall employees and the local news media. So, of course, the last thing Yale wanted was another "distraction" (their words), and figured out of sight out of mind. I think you can imagine that when the dust settles in this case some very influential people and organizations will have hell to pay-- IMO of course (g). - Jeff
