TNT Network Toons will speak in Tamil

TNT & Cartoon Network is going regional from the end of February with a Tamil block of its 'Toon Tamasha'. The move follows the success of the Hindi block of 'Toon Tamasha', which was launched in January, 1999. Initially aired for two hours a day, it has subsequently been increased to nine hours. As a result, over 50 per cent of the programmes in Cartoon Network are in Hindi. "If launching Toon Tamasha in Hindi was a big beginning for us, launching it in Tamil will be a bigger beginning. We are now regionalising within India," Anshuman Mishra, managing director, Turner International India (Pvt) Ltd, which owns the channel, told ET.
