Jaz drive stuff ...

When you try booting with the Jaz drive in DOS mode, does your CONFIG.SYS load the proper driver(s)? Are you running GUEST in DOS so that your Jaz gets assigned a drive letter?

If so, what error or informative messages do you get?

Cheers, PW.

Although SCSI BIOS recognized the Jaz during bootup the Jaz is not shown as being present after the OS boots..

Exactly what do you mean when you say DOS shows the Jaz as being not present? How do you know it is not present when running DOS?

Next question. What capabilities does your motherboard BIOS have for interrogating SCSI devices? Can you enter your motherboard BIOS during boot up and have it run a built in utility routine to search for SCSI devices and then have it tell you what type of SCSI devices are connected?
