<China's Datang Telecom and Zhongxing Telecom had CDMA manufacturing capability
but for intellectual property reasons
were not authorized to produce the equipment, the paper said.>

The most important sentence in that whole announcement is the following: ``We cannot wait or be delayed any more since the third generation of mobile communications is coming,' Tan said."

Learn that poem ladies and gentlemen, you will be hearing it again-----and again-------and again.
as the rest of the world comes to the same realization.

China Unicom, the country's second telecommunications service provider, is set to complete a nationwide CDMA cellular network by the middle of next year...

To all:

It sounds as if China Unicom will be the "Sprint PCS" of China. Is it really possible to complete a nationwide CDMA buildout in just 6 to 8 months? Didn't Sprint take much longer than this in the US? Unicom must have some deep pockets.

If this is true, then the next two quarters will indeed be HUGE (not HUGH) for Q!, with a barrage of royalties from infrastructure equipment coming in.

Regards,

Mark
