Mark, just how do you know? You call the bible a lie, you claim to have no sin, you feel the death of Christ was worthless, and yet you would be an authority on getting closer to God. May God put a curse on your advise lest you cause more to stumble at God's word!

Oh, did you think it was the duty of Christians to bless everything in their path?

Being closer to God and Jesus Christ brings us many things. One of those things is love for all people who have not turned their back on God or commit terribly sinful acts that are an affront to God. I, as a Christian, can not love the sin of one who knows better than to commit such a sin. God loves all people but He hates the sins of people. This is sometimes confusing to the human mind. We can only do the best we are able.
