Oh, I remember what I did.

I was in the fourth or fifth grade at the time and was attending a Halloween party at the local national guard armory. After the party, a school friend asked me if I would like to go to a haunted house with him after the party was over. So I went.

I just failed to tell my mother that I was going, and she was half out of her mind with worry.

My mother's dad always struck me as a very conservative fellow of few words. A very unemotional type of guy. Actually, I think he wished he could do the way-laying.

There was no love lost after he passed, although to be fair, I've always had a knack for finding something to do which I shouldn't be doing. <g>
