I guess we really should be discussing this because it might be the first wave of the big change over we all knew would happen.

MONTREAL, December 8, 1999 -- "Offering direct access to stock markets, TradeFreedom gives our clients unprecedented levels of freedom in their trading activities and true active trading power." This was the message delivered at a news conference this morning by Raymond Desormeaux, chairman and CEO of ECE Electronic Clearing, Inc., on the advantages of a new direct access trading service, coming to Montreal in January, for active traders, investors, broker/dealers, and institutional portfolio managers.

They are kind of vague but that sure sounds like direct to the floor trading, similar to ECN connections used by Day Traders in the US. I'm not sure how they got around the long standing "know your client rule" which has held Canadians down for so long. However if this is true, and they will offer this service then we should see some dramatic changes in trading over the next 6 months or so.

TradeFreedom will also add a new Canadian electronic communications network (ECN) to its many services.

Looks like we might become another NASDAQ <ggg> I going to have to call someone to look into this a little more because I can't find anything on the net talking about it.

Best Regards
KEITH
