The Gospel of Thomas, one of the Gnostic texts found preserved in the Nag Hammadi Library, gives these words of the living Jesus:

Jesus said, `I am not your master. Because you have drunk, you have become drunk from the bubbling stream which I have measured out...

He who will drink from my mouth will become as I am: I myself shall become he, and the things that are hidden will be revealed to him.

Given that this text is considered my most scholars to predate the Gospels, does any one here think that the early Church fathers purged this text to hide evidence of Jesus

Dan, the paragraph was correct in that was what I heard him say on a historical movie. However, they may have added the rest for effect.

" That I am not a member of any Christian Church, is true; but I have never denied the truth of the Scriptures; and I have never spoken with intentional disrespect of religion in general, or of any denomination of Christians in particular...I do not think I could, myself, be brought to support a man for office whom I knew to be an open enemy of, and scoffer of religion.""

He went on to state that whenever he found a church that truly followed the principles of the Bible and did not have man made traditions, he would be happy to begin attending that church. (Sounds nice, hope he said it)
