...and figured I'd take care of her[M-i-l]. I did and her son never kicked in a dime, It sounds to me like you weren't opposed to taking care of your M-i-l, and I hope it doesn't sound as though I am either. What I will be opposed to is having to take care of a woman who gave no thought to the possibility of having to be taken care of and the expense involved in doing so. SJ's sister, husband, and oldest child are worthless, imo. They are constantly asking SJ's mother for money, and they make more than SJ and I. I have so little respect for SJ's sister and family. I got bits and pieces of the last time they spoke (about 9 months ago) which amounted to the sister being afraid their mother would outlive her money and she wouldn't get an inheritance. Such people have a vulture mentality, imo, and I have absolutely no use for such types.
