They have smashed THIER toys- they have never, ever broken anything of mine on purpose. Not even my son who has a disability. When they break their toys out of anger or frustration we do not fix them (even if they are fixable) we throw them out or give them to Good Will. And we tell the kids that that is what happens when you lose your temper- things can't just be "fixed" and forgotten- you move on YES, but whatever you do has a legacy- it doesn't just disappear because one has remorse.

Our kids are quite wonderful for kids. They aren't little adults, and I don't expect them to be, but for children I feel they are even more of a credit to me than I deserve.
