Goldsnow, there is one point in this post to which I must respond right away, namely:

Well, you've just lost your bet. I voted for Clinton in 1992, with strong misgivings (one of them being his total lack of experience in foreign affairs). But I did NOT vote for him in 1996. (His handling of the Chechnya issue alone would have kept me from doing so.)
