To the extent you suggest that it would be bad if RMBS has blocking patents to DDR, I think you are in error. It would create a tactical dilemma, but there are worse problems to have than owning all IPR rights to next generation memory standards.

spliff, you are missing the point, the producers of the DDR are already licensees, if the DDR violates the patents, they simply pay royalties as per existing agreements on DDR shipped as well as RDRAM. Of course, if DDR violates Rambus' patents, would these not be RDRAM in disguise?
