OFF TOPIC:

Dear Jill,

Yes, I believe they are Cox-2 inhibitors. I can't imagine who would have said that they are no more effective than aspirin.

Big tv news article on Cox 2 inhibitors last summer. It was positive! Now doctors hear from patients about how effective they are. My internist specializes in arthritis and chronic pain. He's very well known. Yet, I had to ask him for VIOXX samples in September. B4 then, he still wrote prescriptions for Refalen and other anti-inflammatories. They make me sick at my stomach.

When I began VIOXX I noticed the difference in days and I take Darvocet, a prescription pain killer as well, but Darvocet never alleviated the chronic wrist pain. When the VIOXX samples were low, I called for a prescription.

I take VIOXX with food though. I take one, 25 mg tablet per day.

VIOXX alleviates stiffness as well. If I miss a dose, the pain returns!!!

Also, I use track ball mouse and a split keyboard to minimize impact of PC use on wrists. I have used the keyboard and Logi-tech track ball for three winters, at least.

Last Monday, I was back in my internist office, I noticed one woman walked out the door with 20 or 30 boxes of VIOXX samples.(ggg) The receptionist had to give her a large bag for the boxes.

When the doctor came in, he told me his patients's response to VIOXX was positive and he was delighted. He said some tests show that VIOXX is better than controlled substances or narcotics for pain relief. Research interests him because he has Ph.D.

The VIOXX doesn't help back pain so I have to see a specialist. I should have had an MRI on that area of the back years ago. I believe he has referred refers me to a doctor that specializes in rehabilitation.

The VIOXX has made a tremendous impact on my life! Now. I could look for job outside of home if I could keep chronic fatigue under control.

On the downside, as you know, medications do not have the same impact on all people.

Sincerely,

Mephisto

PS: One of my dance instructors was on a cruise recently. Unfortunately, she came down with a spasm in her back that put her in bed for the entire week. Doctor on ship couldn't do anything to alleviate pain even though he gave her a cortisone shot.

She said a woman on the boat told her about VIOXX or CELEBRA and how wonderful it alleviated her pain. I don't think my instructor believed the woman. I took a day course with her recently and told her about VIOXX. This time she asked me to write down the name of the drug.
