It has been quite a while that BBY offers no-payment-til-Jan. 2000 for total amount above $300 or $400 in Dallas area. No biggie here. I saw a HP PIII 733 box at BBY. It looks like a budget PC. And it costs a bundle (around $2500).

Jim, RE: why "no payments until Jan 3, 2001" on the Intel systems?

They do not want to commit mail order fraud.
It is when they expect delivery.

RE <<<But why the "no payments until Jan 3, 2001" on the Intel systems>>>

Jim, it usually means that the store wants to move the items; once again it does not look as if pc sales are as robust as some claim. And I bet its the high price ones that are not moving fast.

Recently, we have had enough warning from the pc makers themselves.

Misprint? They meant to say 2000, another way of saying "No down payment" but catchier, and screwed it up. No payments for a year in this business is hard to believe, since by then any machine purchased today will be obsolete. Hard to get people to pay up at that point. Just a thought.
