I just had occasion to ask the same question, Fred, and the answer I got was this:

(Author) last name, first name; title; URL; no. of pages (check by using print preview). (No date.)

If you are citing the web version of a newspaper, or a reprint of an article that appeared in print (i.e., on paper), cite the original, not the web site.

Apparently, this is what the latest MLA guide recommends.
