Prop 13 sucks- in SOOO many ways. We can certainly agree on that. And it is VERY unfair. I have no idea why new buyers should have to shoulder a disproportionate amount of property tax. Taxes are awful- but unfair taxes are much much worse (imo).

What is the real estate tax rate in SF, if you know? Here it is $1.23 per hundred dollars of assessed value, per year.

Lizzie, that's what governments love -- huge infusions of cash. Prop 13 was all about people saying enough's enough.

Do you really consider it a "windfall" if Prop 13 made it possible for an aging homeowner to remain in their own home and not be forced into lesser housing because he/she can no longer pay taxes brought on by inflation.

Lizzie, you have repeatedly demonstrated that you lack evidence for sweeping claims that you make. I am willing to be shown wrong if you would care to state the foundations of your case.
