LPTHA....LC IPO thoughts....
Sometimes I am prone to an overly eager imagination, but my gut tells me that LC will be spun into the market....
The question then is: when?
Now is way too soon, IMO, to do this. Most people don't even understand the technology involved here, let alone the potential of LC in the future broadband marketplace. I have read numerous posts from investors that want to understand LC and Lightpath, but find the website written for those other than the layman....they hear of the massive potential and jump on-board, saying things like "I'll never sell this baby until I have my retirement money" and "I'm riding this one to the moon!" And a few points later, many of them will take jump off the bandwagon and "find another lover" (as you once told me Rande).
Ah, but come next fall, when the market performs its Nov. to April dance, wouldn't that be a great time to throw a hot ticket IPO out into the hungry masses? Or, is that too late to capitalize on the growing interest in this field? Does a buyout change the whole mix?
IMO, Lucent is still working out the "kinks" in all-light movement, and AT&T says "We're in no hurry to figure out what the next steps will be....but it's nice to know we'll be able to take them fairly painlessly when the occasion arises."
JP could be in this as a positioning for lead underwriter for LC....just when?
This has probably been hashed over by everyone here, on or off the boards....just nice thoughts to put down to screen for the evening.
Wes

Baton, great thinking!! J.P. Morgan invests in LightChip to position itself for the IPO. I hadn't thought of that. Sure does make sense. And what an IPO that would be. We would have to all find ways of signing up for the offering.

Thanks,

Rande Is
