"A 1 GHz IA-32 Microprocessor Implemented on 0.18 u Technology with Aluminum Interconnect" - by P.Green, Intel Corporation, Hillsboro, OR

A 25 M+ transistor 0.18 u CMOS 6-layer al interconnect processor operates at 1 GHz at room temperature. Performance is achieved by a combination of interconnect aspect ratio optimization, low-K dielectric and design timing optimization. Incremental design effort is low compared to the same design with copper interconnect.

Hi Tony,
RE: "Well, we went to a brick and mortar mall (Valley Fair) Saturday afternoon. They're not dead yet. 40 minutes to find a parking space."

Wow, that's a long time to find a free parking space. Does this mean consumer demand is up in your area and stocks will go up, up, up? Just kidding. This market is nuts, I mean Internuts are nuts. Speaking of Internuts, thanks for your post on Cisco's latest router.

RE: "However, someone I know in retail told me this weekend that they're thinking that a lot of shoppers are going to the malls to touch, feel and price (comparison shop)"

That's gross. People shouldn't touch & feel merchandise unless they actually purchase the item they pick up.

RE: "you described your eshopping experience yesterday.

Yeah, but I didn't describe the part where on Monday, I was told by Macys.com CS, "Yahoo Shopping dumped Macys.com orders on the weekend." Arg.

About your flash memory shortage post...I started seeing a horrible uptick in flash memory the morning of Dell's CC (back when some didn't believe Dell's public statement on this being an issue). Now, that this shortage is finally so publicly known and is several months later, let me add my two cents: the shortage is horrible - I dislike it - it causes unnecessary problems. Arg. Arg.
