When DD stocks started dropping in Nov 1997 I assumed it was due to Asian currency devaluations allowing Japanese companies to dump drives into US market. Now it seems that was just a co-incidence. Other companies that suffered from the (then) strong dollar have recovered in a big way. But disk drives just keep getting worse (if you're long).

Hopefully by now all those warehouses full of obsolete drives are gone. Though I noticed that CDW's on-line catalog has many many different drives listed with same-day shipping. I guess that means there is no shortage of drives, yet.
