NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Online trading volumes soared 68 percent in November at discounter Charles Schwab over October's performance, the discounter said in an influential trading report Monday.
Analysts like Jim Marks at Credit Suisse First Boston had been looking for gains in average daily revenue (or commission) trades of between 40-50 percent in November -- when overall Nasdaq stock market volumes sailed on strong Internet and technology stock gains.

Schwab (SCH: news, msgs) shares ended down 9/16 to 38 7/16 ahead of the report on Friday.

The online brokerages, which have been on a tear on expected higher volumes last month, may receive another boost on Monday from the Schwab report.

E-Trade (EGRP: news, msgs), Ameritrade (AMTD: news, msgs). TD Waterhouse (TWE: news, msgs) -- to name a few -- have been gainers on strong volume expectations for the industry.
