BWEB-Secong article from this morning! BackWeb To Be Used By Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. for Fast Delivery of Internal Information

BUSINESS WIRE - December 13, 1999 07:17
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec 13, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- BackWeb(R) Technologies (Nasdaq:BWEB), the leading provider of push for e-business solutions, today announced that Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. will use its technology for the proactive delivery of business- and mission-critical information to its retail branch offices and customer service centers. Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. is the nation's largest online broker, serving more than 6 million active accounts.

Charles Schwab will use BackWeb's sophisticated attention-management tools, or Flashes, to alert customer service center representatives and branch investment specialists to changes in market conditions and internal operations that affect customer call volume. The Flashes can appear on a Charles Schwab employee's desktop regardless of the application in use, and may be tiered based on priority and urgency. By using Flashes, Schwab hopes to inform its employees of timely information more quickly, and deliver increased efficiency in Retail operations and enhanced customer satisfaction and retention.

"The Internet, with its power and reach, has revolutionized today's financial industry. As a result, it has forced companies to seek new ways to respond and adapt quickly to critical change," said Eli Barkat, chairman and CEO of BackWeb Technologies. "BackWeb aims to not only help Charles Schwab ensure continuity in its operations, but also increase customer satisfaction through the ability to respond to the most current market information. BackWeb is designed to enable Charles Schwab to more proactively meet the needs of its customers."
