Most shorters manage to exit and miss run ups. My personal belief is that most shorters are much, much better traders than most longs. Think about it. In a rising market almost everyone who is long makes money, but in a rising market you have to be darn good to avoid going broke. Thus survival of the fittest takes most shorts our of the game unless they are very, very good. My advice regarding shorts is to just ignore them most of the time, but if you come to a stock that is 45% shorted (like PDX), consider it a warning and avoid it. The short position in MVIS, while higher than prior years, isn't terribly high, so I wouldn't be concerned about it.

As for me, I rarely short because I'm not good enough at it.

Good luck,

Carl
