Well you being a lawyer are probably more in tune to this than I ever was (until recently)... but California has this proposition system which the other states don't have (I don't think)... where a majority popular measure can get on the ballot and ride a tide of public support, no matter how damaging it is long term, and theres no way to stop it really. Thats why all these wierd things come up here like the anti-immigration bill and this tax stuff. A representative democracy is the way to go, thats for sure. I'm surprised all the dark haired people don't get together in this state and overtax the blonds, just because they are the majority and they can.
