Jeff, I agree about Rambus price. As soon as a few of those guys across the big pond, maybe even Micron, get the kinks out and the yields up, they'll come down. My main concern is still the transmission line characteristics of the much higher frequency than "normal" (400 MHz) signals on the mobo. I think Intel, even with their mobo, node, servers, etc. high speed systems design experience, failed to do enough diligence to this. They should have hired some old ECL system designers.

Just because RD ram is higher now does not mean that it is going to stay that way.

Right. Remember how expensive SDRAM was when it first came out? Some motherboards even supported 60ns-or-better EDO on the SDRAM sticks as a substitute.
