<Are you postulating that AMD , coming to market with a SLudgeHummer 18 months behind Intel's IA64 platform, will out produce and out market-muscle Intel ?>

Couple of things:
- Sledgehammer is probably not much more than 12 months behind.
- x86-64 will be way ahead of IA-64 in sheer number of applications available at launch by an order of magnitude.

As long as I am at it, let me put this very gently to you: Intel's muscle comes from x86 and not the other way around.

IA-64 to Intel is somewhat like Microchannel to IBM.
