Warren Buffett holds 5.3 percent of Bell Industries
WASHINGTON, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Billionaire investor Warren Buffett said on Monday that he holds 5.3 percent of Bell Industries Inc. (NYSE:BI - news), a provider of computer systems integration services seeking a new owner.

Buffett, whose investment decisions are closely watched, holds 506,700 shares of common stock in the El Segundo, Calif.-based company, according to a 13G, or passive, filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The filing did not reveal when or at what price the shares were acquired.

Bell Industries said recently that the company was open to takeover bids above $5.30 a share. In October, the company's board rejected one bid for $5.30 a share from its largest shareholder, Steel Partners II LP.

Buffett runs Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRKa - news), a holding company with investments in companies including Coca-Cola and auto insurer GEICO Corp.

Shares in Bell Industries were up 1-1/2 to 6-1/2 on the New York Stock Exchange.
