This confirms what Ive suspected all along. Cisco throws their funny money at these no name startups, the employees say "thank you Morons" and go start their own company. So in effect, Cisco is expecting a 7 billion dollar return on this microwave sized box, because nobody is left to come out with the next generation. Nice move Joke!

The buyout created a group of 200
millionaires within Cerent's work force who
already are starting to plow their fortunes
back into another crop of telecom startups
clustered in Petaluma. It inspired a new
generation of high-tech entrepreneurs to
start their own companies.
