To put it bluntly, I am only saying that software infrastructure favors x86-64 vis-a-vis IA-64.

Intel can play the same ball game and extend x86. Nothing for AMD is a given unless Intel gives up x86 instructions.

Even then, I am not saying anything about eventual success of Sledgehammer. As things stand right now AMD has an opportunity but I am not betting on anything AMD past Q4 '00 - not yet anyway.
