It seems from this article that Linux isn't easy to install, and in fact, might be very difficult.

I've done several installs. Redhat 6.0 is pretty effortless. The trick is graphics. If you have a vanilla graphics card, you probably won't have problems. For the rest of us, good 'ol VGA is about as good as it gets. Once graphic card vendors start releasing Linux drivers along with the card, I'll take the upstart more seriously... Dead serious.

I don't think installation would be an issue for the embedded market. We are talking about stripped down and specialized Linux that runs off of a ROM running on a system with pre-determine hardware and configuration.
