your right about the order matching, if more orders were to come in after close then they would match up.

EDIT:
I have Just called MAtt and the correct answer is:

From 4:05 Pm to 5:00Pm is after hours trading which means:
1) you must call in the order , the Web trading will not work for after hours.
2) the sell or buy can only be executed at the last BID / ASk when market closed

3) there must be available quantity at the BID or Ask to meet your demand. A partial fill is possible if there is not enough Qty to meet the full order.
