<<Well, some of us noticed the current president's "mental failings" very early in his
first term. The fact that many in America feel he has the proper JUDGMENT to
serve as president makes Reagan's memory lapses seem like a hangnail.>>

I don't have much respect for Bill Clinton. However, I think it is important to separate his MORAL failings from his mental functioning. It is possible to state that he does not have the proper judgment to be president, if that is your opinion, but what we were talking about with Reagan towards the end of the last term was a much more serious problem, having to do with basic orientation to people, places, and events. Certainly this state--absentmindedness veering towards nodding off in public and a sort of stupor, with Nancy making decisions and running the show, along with his advisors--is more serious in a leader. While Clinton had lots of problems, it was clear that he was always focused and was the guy running the show. You could not say that for Reagan.
