Warren Buffett holds stake in Bell Industries

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Billionaire investor Warren Buffett holds a 5.3 percent stake in Bell Industries, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing released Monday.

Buffett holds 506,700 common shares of the electronic instruments manufacturer (BI: news, msgs), according to the Schedule 13G, which revealed few details.

A Schedule 13G discloses beneficial ownership of certain registered equity securities. Information regarding individual share purchases or sales is not including in the filing.

The El Segundo, Calif.-based company rejected an offer from Steel Partners II in October to buy Bell Industries, calling the $5.30-a-share bid inadequate. The New York-based Steel Partners said in a filing that it owns 17.6 percent of Bell Industries. See related story.

Shares of Bell Industries jumped 1 7/16 to 6 7/16 on Monday.
