Peter, that's the point...it's engineering, as opposed to free markets. if the CB's hadn't bought bonds in recent weeks, bond yields would already be much higher than they are. i think that Jim Bianco is on the right track with his argument that only a sustained decline in the stock market could lead to genuine bond buying...however, knowing the Fed, it'd try to print it's way out of that situation. will that continue to work? i doubt it...
