Linux is here to stay - I think some of the valuations
of the companies are a bit high - but Linux is definitely
here for the longterm.

RedHat has something like only 150 workers! But their
mindset is totally different from Microsoft. Linux
companies actually work *together* - sharing expertise
and code. Like Sun's phrase "the network is the computer"
- it is more like "the network is the developer".

For routers, gateways, vpn's, proxy servers, and other
"dedicated" purposes, Linux will be the answer. On the
desktop we are a ways away from wide acceptance...

I wouldn't go chasing Linux companies, but don't ignore
them...
