Just a tidbit this morning on CBS Market Watch:

"Hale, in his approach, says he wanted to catalog first some of the hot themes of 1999. Like optical networking -- where shares of fiber-optic developers, among them Ortel Corp. (ORTL: news, msgs) and JDS Uniphase (JDSU: news, msgs), have been roaring amid the rush to deliver the Internet into the world's living rooms.

"Hale, for those who haven't read about him in this space, is a former bond market analyst who, with investments author Ted Allrich, provides
financial profiles and other data and news from the U.S. stock market.
One of his featured semiconductor stocks, little-known Vari-L Corp. (VARL: news, msgs) of Colorado, has seen its shares triple in six months."
