Got this from a Prudential report on NVDA

Nvidia filed a patent infringement suit against S3 (SIII, $9 3/8, not rated)
last Thursday. At stake are five patents that Nvidia alleges have been
infringed by S3 in its audio and multimedia products. These patents are not
currently used in Nvidia?s products. There is no patent infringement in S3?s
3D graphics processors. We view this as a defensive move as Nvidia pushes a
consumer electronics strategy forward.
