Cha2, "form factor" is the physical shape/size/form implementation of a given device. Hence a desktop is one form factor, and a laptop another, of a PC. Ausdauer goes into some detail about CF having a good form factor (small, rugged, portable, and removable) in the nonvolatile memory field.

Cha2, I not aware of the context in which Frank used the term "form factor." I'm using it with a context that suggests that in this regard, an underlying technology for cameras, pdas and cell phones is storage memory.

I can see several "form factors" of storage memory as likely competitors including compact flash, memory sticks, and in the future miniature hard drives.

I also am no expert in these types of storage devices, but the paragraph above is how I think of them.

Again in "the for what it's worth department." I also remember Ausdauer leaving feeling that he wasn't being listened too. Indeed, I sent him a post asking that he continue his valuable input to the thread. I don't believe however, that he was treated disrespectfully.

Best Regards,
Tom
