yes-but that happened way before Jerry Brown.

I like Jerry (or governor Moonbeam as I prefer to call him)- I like him because he IS a man of integrity. I don't agree with him on everything but i have to admire him for not caving in to special interests- when that would be in his own best political interest.

Yeah... now I don't know all the details of that, but imo it was a part of the corruption problem. I think they created that Ebonics myth as a foreign language (or something like that)... to qualify for more state money. Oakland schools have all this administration and some districts have been charged with misappropriations etc. They don't have enough money, true, but what they do have they misuse. I actually think it is so demoralizing to work in those schools they can't get decent people - its beyond the level of somebody who wants to "make a difference".

Anyway that was before Jerry Brown, I believe he is ethical, I don't care that hes governor Moonbeam. And the fact that hes there has drawn talent to the city... I hope he stays.

The prior mayor ran for water district I think and lost to someone from the Green party.
