That is SO wonderful. There is something truly wrong with my son- it just doesn't happen to be with his intelligence (which is what all the specialists thought when he was small). My son is the leader of his special ed class, but I don't know if he will be able to mainstream. I hope so. But I don't want to be crushed if it doesn't happen. So I don't hope too much.

I had a similar experience with my son, except I has never able to spend the time with him (for which I envy you). The school psychologist recommended separate tracked special ed, but he was unwilling to leave his friends in the mainstream and struggled on. He had and has a genius for friendship. He ultimately became a brilliant drummer, and an all A student -- in psychology. He pretty much fixed himself through natural talents and determination. He didn't want or accept much special help from us.
