RE <<<I am not sure if this is true. In the last day or so evidence has been mounting that a quarter end slow down may be happening. AMD is discounting Athlons for resellers, Intel chipsets are supposedly piling up in Taiwan. Niles and others have warned that business folks have gone into Y2K lockdowns.>>>

Charles, you are misunderstanding what he said....intc blamed too much demand on the shortage of cumine...whereas the guy on CNBC was saying it was poor yields.

I have suspected for some time that demand was not what some were claiming....the facts did not add up. That's why my enthusiasm has been somewhat blunted lately. Nonetheless I think AMD will have a good quarter although it looks like the stock is taking a hit.

Chuck,

Just to confirm what we already thought (i.e., the 1ghz machine as Kryotech; I'm pretty sure you were the one who originally posted on this):

anandtech.com

The Kryotech SuperG featuring an AMD Athlon 750 overclocked to 1000MHz has been in the lab for a few days now. The performance is what we'd all expect, but I guess the bigger point to make about the SuperG isn't it's performance, rather the simple idea of hitting that 1000MHz mark. I still remember dreaming about a 1000MHz CPU when we saw the first 100MHz CPU (I'm an odd individual, I have odd dreams ;)...).
