I agree with you and have expressed these same thoughts. I don't think NN is worth more than 35 though. In fact 30-35 is a large premium to current stock price and NN should take it. This assumes someone is actually offering it!

NN has the 36170
And in your opinion which sure add to quality of this thread NN does not have DSL gear. And of course 3dSL( TV, Video over copper) does not exist in your opinion and Kingstom Comm.(150 million pounds as reported by Bloomberg) and SBC decision to use it in Pronto project is only
error in the press. BTW, I have not seen mighty CSCO in Pronto Project at all, not mention as a MAJOR vendor.
Also NN's LMDS solution, at which you have been laughing at least by mid of 1999, including famous WIC case, has been scoring big way.
Of course the licenses has been just awarded, specially in Europe, so nobody expected big revenue until now.
BTW, b/c in Europe cable industry accounts for only 25% of TV distributions,LMDS and 3dSL(TV) will be the hottest.

You have to separate technology and management execution.
If someone will aquire NN, it will look what can be done with technology and customer base.

Peppe!!!!! I am soooooÿ glad you showed up to discuss this.

I have a simple question:

Didÿ

ÿLU, NT and CSCOÿ

put,

" their complete arsenal "

Ethernet switches, routers, DWDM, Sonet ADMS, service selection gateways,ÿ
dial access servers, xDSL gear, etc.

together,ÿ

anywhere ,

in a a single, world wide Carrier Network ,

successfully, without blackouts?

Or Peppe,

areÿ

LU, NT and CSCO

rather expecting Carriers to dish out a Gazillion dollars to buy these appliances, take 'em home,
string 'em along and hope they work without crashing?

Where is this network?

That is my question Peppe. I need a name.

In fact there is no name. This hasn't been done.

What we have instead is aÿ
veritable patchwork of switches from various vendors hookes up best we can
and experimenting as we go along
.

NN can experiment right along with the big guys.ÿ
Look at little Junioer taking it to CSCO ,

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ I can't believe how much this thread has deteriorated. Pat where are you ??

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ Are we just going to let TA and ZO speak uncontested ?ÿ

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ OK, here's a reality check for whoever's left.

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ NN bet the farm on ATM. They sold off their crown jewel (Cambrian) for 3 hockey sticks and a dozen pucks to Nortel. They made soem management
changes and
ÿÿÿÿÿÿ proceeded to severely over-estimate the ATM market. They then missed 5 of the last 8 quarters and Lutz got canned. Wallstreet wants more blood than
that.

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ In the meantinme, LU, NT and CSCO have been building up complete arsenals of gear that carriers will need. This includes Ethernet switches, routers,
DWDM,
ÿÿÿÿÿÿ Sonet ADMS, service selection gateways, dial access servers, xDSL gear, etc.

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ NN has the 36170. Time to sell, and IMO NN is worth $35-$45 share. But they sure as hell can't survive alone.

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ Cheers,

ÿÿÿÿÿÿ Peppe

Peppe, in medicine there is a saying: " first do no harm ".
That is a doctor should not treat if the treatment is worse
than the disease.
You are saying that LU,CSCO,NT " have built gadgets Carriers
will need ".
Well the Carriers are doing just fine right now; healthy;
money rolling out of their pockets in buckets.

Before they buy a cure ( the new gadgets ) the question is:

Will they black out?

Like CSCO/AT&T in 1997
Like LU/ASND Chicago 9/1999
Like CSCO ION , TELIA & The Manhattan project with Sprint.

and if so, how much will that cost in PR

like the black face MCI and LU got in Chicago which is likely
one cause why their stocks are lagging.

So IMHO

Carriers don't have to buy anything rightaway.
We got time to test.
And with so many gadgets sold by so many comapnies
we are not going to see a 100 yard dash sppeeds here on this,
