Earlie,

>>Japan's government deficit spending FOR THE YEAR will represent 42% of total GDP.<<

What kind of numbers are we talking about. This is incredible.

I thought it was supposed to be bigger than just $ 4 B. As for computer sales, they'll also be slowing down prior to the late Q1 release of Win 2000.

Earlie, thanks for your thoughtful analysis. Perhaps the biggest threat to that scenario is investors will continue to ignore reality and the street will tell them ignore the present the second half of 2000 will be gangbusters. Thus far the herds blind faith in the street's optimism has been rewarded like Pavlov's dog. one day that dog won't hunt -g- I am undecided if the Fed tries to maintain the bubble through the election or as Milhouse suggests at gold-eagle.com ( Mythman's favorite site) let it deflate and then really gun it for the elections. I recognize that the Fed will inevitably someday be powerless if they continue to interfere with the free market much like the BOJ has been over the past decade. Mike

Earlie,

Don't you think that the pent-up demand from corporations as they come out of their Y2k freeze periods will mitigate the inventory overhang?

IT departments of large corporations cannot afford to stand pat -- they must rearchitect their systems for the Web to stay competitive.
